Cannabis has been used in increasing the sensations of lovemaking and in other forms of sacred sexuality. Marijuana and sex are analogues. Just as our bodies contain pleasure systems which feel erotic experience for sex; our brains contain neurocellular circuitry which can only be activated by substances with THC's molecular structure. Our brain is one source: it generates a neurochemical very similar to THC, called anandamide, meaning bliss; the only other source for this bliss-producing substance is the cannabis plant.
The use of Cannabis for escalating the bliss of sex has an Indian connection. Cannabis has been used in India for at least 3,000 years. The Indian Ayurvedic mentions that cannabis to increase libido, conquer impotence, and cure various diseases. These systems in addition with opium sometimes combine with cannabis. Tantric worshippers of ancient India use marijuana, as they have for ages, to stimulate the central nervous system energy termed as “kundalini”. Many ancient gods and goddesses appeared in male/female pairs, and were portrayed creating the world by copulation. Some rituals involved male and female sexual interaction to yield rains or a good harvest.
Cannabis was used as aphrodisiacs. Many formulations were made using Cannabis that were responsible for heightening the sexual ecstasy by both man and women. Marijuana consumption and sexual arousal both produce similar physiological responses, such as increased heart rate, heightened sensitivity, changes in blood flow and respiration, relaxation. A mix of both thus produces opened to human an ultimate high to enjoy the oneness.
Sex is the unity of body and mind. When sexual activity is aided with marijuana use, such experiences can be especially intimate and revelatory, facilitating trusting, loving relationships.
Not only Marijuana has been used to increase sexual pleasures, ironically it has also been used to decrease sexual desire. But researchers quote that the experience varies from person to person and intoxication levels. While some people experience an increase in their sexual desires some others report that marijuana decreased their interest in sex.
Most people who've practiced it think that cannabis makes sex better. Some even consider it a meek aphrodisiac. It tends to boost sexual pleasure as it may lower inhibitions, slow down time, persuade leisure, make people more aware of touch and senses, and help to focus on the present moment. Orgasms may not be more intense, but the experience may seem more sensual. There's a sense of deeper appreciation for the ambiance such as candlelight, visual aesthetics and music. More imaginative approaches may be explored, but that does not remove the individual's responsibility or judgment for practicing safe sex and proper use of condoms.
Mixing sex and marijuana use comes under private realm of responsible adults. Its better that one researches the pros and cons of using this wonderful weed to enjoy the ultimate solace while sex. Government prohibition policies prevent research into the medical benefits of marijuana, including positive interactions between marijuana and sex.
