Whether one want to grow cannabis for medical use, for cooking or just for enjoyment it doesn't matter. You just need to know is how to grow to this wonderful weed with minimal space and effort. Below is a step to step guide to cultivate Cannabis in one’s own kitchen garden.
Seed Germination
Get good quality cannabis seeds. Cannabis seeds are dark brown or light gray in color. Immature seeds are white in color should not be planted.
Soak the seeds in a container filled up to half level at room temperature bottled water. Avoid tap water as it contains alkaline and other chemicals.
Keep the seeds in a dark place for germination, this will soften the hull and promote germination. After three days, the hulls will crack and a tiny white root tip will emerge. When the tip is grown to about a half-inch, it’s ready for plantation.
Seed Plantation
You can plant the seeds in a pot containing non-fertilized planting soil. Plant only one seed sprout (or seed) in each pot. Place the seed with its POINTED END UP. While planting the seeds one should take care that the fragile tip is not damaged or the hull is not disturbed.
Setting the lights
For growing plants incandescent lights prove to be inefficient and thus are not an acceptable option for plant growth. Therefore for growing plants in enclosed and note specially-well-ventilated spaces fluorescent tubes are the perfect option. They emit about three times as much light as an incandescent with the same wattage. Light is emitted over a large area, so it is not concentrated. Because of this, the lights have to be hung very close to the plants.
Fluorescents light are very helpful in cloning and starting seedlings. They produce gentle light and release far less heat which is effective for plant growth.
Proper Ventilation
Plants breathe through their leaves. They also rid themselves of poisons through their leaves. If proper ventilation is not maintained, the pores of the leaves will become clogged and the leaves will die. Expert suggest using a recommend a system that can both bring in fresh and exhaust hot, stale air. Important points for the vegetative state
The newly hatched seeds need the long daylight so it is required to keep the lights on for 24 hours a day for the first two weeks. The pods should be kept moist. After one to two weeks, the plants will develop a good root ball and they need to be transplanted to bigger pots and provide them with light for 18 hours a day.
It’s essential to properly water the plants and making sure that the root ball dries out completely. Do not over-water. Let the water stand for a day or two before watering.
